For those who might be looking for a good Christian morning devotional, may I suggest "Renewed Day by Day" by A.W.Tozer. It's my go-to devotional when the world isn't making much sense & I need it to.

Here's today's devotional reading, as a sample.
And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? . . . Acts 9:6
The most harmful mistake we make concerning time is to think that it has somehow a mysterious power to perfect human nature and change the human personality.
We say of a foolish young man, "Time will make him wiser," or we see a new Christian acting like anything but a Christian and hope that time will someday turn him into a saint.
The truth is that time has no more power to sanctify a man than space has. Indeed, time is only a fiction by which we account for change. It is a transformation, not time, that turns fools into wise men and sinners into saints, Christ bringing it about by means of the changes He works in the heart!
Saul the persecutor became Paul the servant of God, but time did not make the change. Christ wrought the miracle, the same Christ who once changed water into wine. One spiritual experience followed another in fairly rapid succession until the violent Saul becamse a gentle, God-enamored soul, ready to lay down his life for the faith he once hated. It should be obvious that time had no part in the making of the man of God!
Human nature is not fixed and for this we should thank God day and night! We are still capable of change. We can become something other than what we aer. By the power of the gospel the covetous man may become generous, the egotist lowly in his own eyes. The thief may learn to steal no more, the blasphemer to fill his mouth with praises unto God.
Don't ya just LOVE Tozer? :-)
It was a beautiful day today to be outside. The sun was warm but the temperature was on the cool side. I bought 6 bags of topsoil yesterday & 3 bags of mulch... and I wanted to get them used up today so I could buy the same allotment after I picked up Caboose from school this afternoon. Mission accomplished.
I filled up some holes in the yard with the topsoil & then transplanted a few things into a little garden patch I have right next to the house on the east side... ending with the mulch. It's not very wide... only about 4 ft... and it's edged by huge railroad ties. I remember when DanMyMan edged that garden for me. It was no small feat but he did it simply because I desired it done. God bless that man!
A few weeks ago I transplanted some lavender sage into this garden patch & moved around some mum plants too, along with moving my HUGE lavender plant into this new location as well. It was still sort of bare & I knew right what I wanted to do.... there was a flowering "something" next to the fence that I'd been wanting to move for the longest time & today that time had come. The bush produces delicate pink blossoms in the spring and when I dug it up, it divided itself into 3 separate bushes. I happen to believe in Divine Providence so I think God meant for that to happen so I could "spread the love" around & have three separate flowering "somethings" in this particular garden patch. I'm grateful.

I need a focal point of some sort in this patch & I'm not sure what it's going to be yet. But it definitely needs a little something to catch the eye. We'll see what I can come up with in the next day or two. I'll think of something, I know.
After I was done (the gardening job took me 2 hrs. this morning... from 9-11am) I was walking to the stairs to come into the house & I saw a little friend in another garden patch I have out front. This little friend had a long tongue that kept darting out as she looked in my direction. :-) I could tell that she had been laying in the sun before I disturbed her. I think she enjoyed the sun on her skin every bit as much as I did this morning. It did feel soooo good out there today. Fresh spring air, sunshine, a slight breeze, butterflies everywhere, bees humming... the season has unequivocally changed from winter to spring.
I think both my friend & me were more than glad about that fact this morning.

This is going to be a simple enough blog, for sure... talking about the everyday happenings, as well as the hopes & dreams & thoughts & feelings, in the life of DanMyMan & me.
Mostly me. :-)
